I'm trying to build Erik Hansen's "Sixteen Overdrive".Here's the schematics,and layouts page;http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php/v/vanhansen/?g2_page=3 I'm a little unsure about the pots he's using.1 of them says;100k A.Does that mean It's a 100k linear pot?I don't understand some of the other pots he's using as well...Need Help!!!!

If I look at the Sixteen Overdive I don't see a 100k A pot?
I see 2 100k trim. These are 100k linear installed on the board (they are called trim pots) Look at notes at  the bottom of the schematic, it tell you why they are there!
I also see a 1M-A this is an Audio/logarithmic pot.

A is for audio/logarithmic
B is for linear
C is for reverse

Cool!!So,The veroboard layout looks a little differn't than the perfboard layout.The veroboard one says;Gain-1M a,Softness 50K a(optional),Volume 100k a.So,I'm guessing there's 2 pots;(1M a,100k a)and,the other pot is optional.Does that sound correct?

Yes - softness pot dials down how much clipping takes place through the diodes.
Not totally required but it's a nice feature to have.

I neglected to say that if you use the diodes but DON'T use the softness pot, then you
will have a lot of diode clipping without much control, as soon as you dial up the gain, they
will start to clip.
So I would suggest that BOTH the diodes/softness are optional together but not one without the other
... if that makes sense ?

Yes.I think I'll try it with the softness pot,and the diodes.
