Hello again, all.  Just 2 weeks ago I completed my perf-boarded EA Tremolo from runoffgroove:

 http://runoffgroove.com/eatremolo.html

The build went well.  I was stoked at how well it came out; it rose & fell in its really cool sorta retro way, the bright blue light blinking with the speed pot, and the "boosted "sound was special.  Enter the problem-  Last night, I was playing, and paused to plug my reverb pedal into the chain.  Soon as I put my strap back on, I find I get nothing from the EA. LED still running with tempo, but no sound at all.  When I step on foot switch, I go back to the clean bypassed sound.  Strange.  I have not taken any actions yet- save for checking that all my wires were still in place, and they were, I could not pull a loose one anywhere.  Before I started "jumping at shadows" figuring this thing out, I thought I'd ask builders with a tons more time doing this than I have.   My guesses are 1:  one ( or a few) of the electrolytic caps has failed, or 2: the j201 bit the dust somehow..
Thank you for reading, any help or suggestions much appreciated!

Just an update, I went and measured the all the trannies.....Here they are:  (with 9 V battery, measured @9.27 V)

Q1   Drain-5.14
      Gate  2.78
      Source  1.18

Q2   Drain-000
      Gate-Fluctuation
      Source-000

Q3 Collector-Fluctuation
    Base       5.80
    Emitter-  000

Replaced Q2 with 2n5457, and now have some sound when effect is active , but not as good as the 201/102...is there another trannie that would work- one with a bit more "uhmph" then the 2n5457?  again, thanks for the ideas....

Sorry to throw this back up to the top, but just as I posted those last values, stuff came up and my troubleshooting got ended, so I'm picking up where I left off: Here's what I have done since-  *changed back from the 5457 to the MPF102, the recommended trannie
                   * reflowed all solder joints, both on and off board
                   * double checked my work using a D
When I plug in the effect to the amp and play in bypass, all is well, but when when I hit the switch, I can barley hear a weak signal thru sort of a white-noise.  Caps?

Q:  Is the success vs non-success associated with a functioning circuit before packaging into the chassis versus after it was installed?
