So can i just iron on toner in the same method as etching as a means to paint a pedal, then coat it in laquer or something?

I'd obviously be sanding it before in the same manner to smooth it out for an etch/paint job

you can, but you will not got the best results ever, Iv always found the toner transfer onto enclosure a little patchy, and tend to opt for press n peel when etching.

why not just use wet-slide decals paper?

I've done it, came out like this -

I think the patchyness was just not having my technique right and probably not preparing the enclosure properly.

I just transfered the toner as usual, then gave it a very light sand with steel wool (The toner seemed to almost oxidise for me and begin to turn white) and quickly got the first layer of laquer (just car laquer) on before it oxidised again.

I've done it using transparency on a painted enclosure. Didn't came out perfectly, though, it's kinda hard technique to get good results:

if you've just ironed toner on there, beware if you spray it with laquer...

i did the same thing, and the toner melted and smeared because i got carried away
with heavy coats of laquer on the first coats (rushing it).......

do very very light dust coats and let dry well in between coats.....

let it dry and do again....dont rush it like i did...it ends up a messy job to clean up..ha ha...

this may help...rob. :icon_twisted:
