I built trotsky using this layout http://www.google.com/#hl=en&biw=1280&bih=899&q=trotsky+drive&aq=f&aqi=g2g-v8&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&fp=5e6bdb48522e9eb4 i use asymmetrical and symmetrical, i use 2n2222a also tries 2n3904 and even 2n5088"just experimenting" i tried with bright but not bright enough for me.

My report is im not so happy because its more fuzzy to me than overdrive.. its very quite when use to boost my jcm mod DS1 also my amp"30 watts fernandez" im not happy as i said because its more on fuzz not overdrive not like clean overdrive as i expected :(

I use a 100k audio pot at the front of the circuit for my gain control and it works really well. I also use the Big Muff tone/recovery stage at the end plus some component swapping etc..long story short, it's easy to mod to your liking.
Big Muff, Trotsky Drive, Little Angel, Valvecaster, Whisker Biscuit, Smash Drive, Green Ringer, Fuzz Face, Rangemaster, LPB1, Bazz Fuss/Buzz Box, Radioshack Fuzz, Blue Box, Fuzzrite, Tonepad Wah, EH Pulsar, NPN Tonebender, Torn's Peaker...

Like blooze_man says, it's easy to mod to your liking. When I built this pedal, I wasnt happy with the stock sound and thought it was more fuzz than overdrive but lowering the input cap will give you more of a overdrive than fuzz. Mess with it some more and you might like it better. Good luck. :icon_wink:

Thanks Guys! really appreciated your responds and it helps me a lot.. by the way i took of the trotsky as i said its fuzzy.so i tried Tubereamer from ROG and used tlc2202 chip and it was kick ass! i tried jrc4558 and its hissing like tornado so i tried swapping some opamps and like the one im using now..

Ill try to mode the trotsky again and report back :)

Cheers

has anyone experimented with transistor choice?  ( i.e. comparison of the KT312, 2N3904, 2N2222 )

Havent tryed a KT312 but have tryed both the 2n3904 and 2n2222. Both sound good but I like 2n5088 or 2n5089. More gain and output.
