Boost from a Bazz Fuss???

   Ok, I'm lost...I've been building the bazz fuss for a few years now (they make great birthday gifts for guitarist friends).  One thing I never realized is that when the amp is turned WAY up the bazz fuss is actually quieter than the clean amp!  I get a slight volume drop (albeit a nice toned fuzzy signal) when I step on the switch.  I'm using the classic 'home wrecker' bazz fuss schemo with a 100k pot.  What do you think might be going on here?
