It seems just fine but needs some boost !
  Keyboard>DI>Powered Speaker.
  Triton Ex Workstation/Keyboard>
  Nady DI Box 500k input/50k Balanced output>
  Mackie 1530z.
It works, and gets pretty loud.
A keyboard preamp or simple booster is what I'm after now, but I don't think a 9v supplied active boost'll have enough headroom.
I'm considering it's already able to get pretty loud, could use another 1/3 'volume' increase, and in particular: the keyboard output voltage swing potentials.
Yupp, the unknown keyboard output strength as related to the next stages power supply voltage is the basis of the question.
What is a decent power supply voltage to make a keyboard output booster.
Or..should I call it a preamp and really take a closer look at something beyond simple full range boost with adequated headroom ?

yeah sounds like you need more of a preamp than a booster, the latter is probably going to dirty up your sound even if it's a so-called "clean" boost.  Do any of the active DI boxes that double as preamps have a boost built into them?  I have an MXR M-80 but i know the max vol setting is only as loud as the input signal, so that doesn't help.

I just had an idea- i have one of those ART Tube MPs on my bass rig- i use it at the end of my effects chain to drive my power amp, so i'm using it as a preamp.  Sounds great and has a lot of output.  1/4" and XLR ins/outs.  Can be had for super cheap, i think new they're around $30.

Yepp. Kinda reminds me of the TubePre Sittin' on the keyboard now.
It got mixed reviews there but I think it's the way, it might even be in stock 2mi. away.
Not a long stretch at all for me for me to do a little product testing, my exp. on mixed reviews/new stuff I'd otherwise select is after a while I generally forget such troubles.
Great suggestion, I've been meaning to fill need for another Tube Pre-DI box, very satisfied with the numerous applications from the Presonus, soon after getting it I said "I shouldda got the 2-channel one'', no matter, IME the 2 most in-need-of-Pre positions aren't always right next to each other anyway.
