Hello World!

Good Day to all!

I have  a question regarding to Ds1 . . .How can I convert this to become overdrive? to get rid of the grittiness of the pedal . .
Reasons.

1. my Ds1 was mod to JCM mod by wampler very nice mod! and i added some changes too
2. when i crank down the dist knob the sound is clean and can be a clean boost - here is the reason why i want to smooth the distortion i want to make it as boost to my sansamp clone. when i tried it it was kick ass! its one good color booster->>
3. i want to smooth distortion so that i can make it as versatile as it was.

4. Any idea on this one? i know its crazy but maybe someone can advice?

wow it work posting img :D my first time  :icon_twisted:

to get rid of the grittiness of the pedal
raising the diode threshold will make it more boosty, it won't clip as soon/as hard.
Frequency shaping before the clipping 'nose' a sound that is common to...eq'd into distortion, 'nork' tone if midrange humped, should still clip harder than similarly set up TS, but to describe pre-clip treble cut is no easy task, try Eq pre and post to compare...if taking into account...the eq, knobs set to 1/2, centered flat, still will introduce some alteration, as will the knobs in comparison to...
Whatever eq you can figure to 'bend in the DS-.
It's a long circuit, and 2 schematics makes it 2x as long at least.
One to know where it went from stock, the other to know how far and where it went from stock values.
All combined with 'what's it doing now'...or
Simplified greatly by focusing solely on what is it doing now?.
Pushing harder into an active @ a certain frequency early...that is being cut hard late...[I like it on the HF's sometimes...]...well it is what it is !
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Thanks petemoore!

Here is it..my clipping was 2x 1n4148 d4, d5 2x1n4001. . .still can i add some?
so you mean is its hard to mod it to overdrive?

I get a little on what you're trying to say but need more knowledge on  'nork' :D

I replaced both diodes on my DS-1 with green LEDs, and replaced a few capacitors. I don't remember which ones exactly. I was loosely following an online tutorial. When I get home from work I'll try and find out for you. I really dig the sound of it now; it's more smooth and has much less distortion, but maybe enough still to not be considered just an overdrive. A bonus is that now it has TONS more of volume, which is great for a solo boost or whatever. 10-11 o'clock is more than enough.
