My GGG Tone Machine won't turn off

I haven't run into this on before - my recently built tone machine clone doesn't turn off when the 1/4" cables are unplugged.  In other words, if I leave the battery in it, I can still hit the footswitches and the LEDs turn on.  I didn't see any obvious mistakes but plan to inspect a little more closely this weekend.  In the meantime, I thought I'd check to see if anyone here has an idea of places to start looking for a problem.

Thanks,

Tony

Well did you do the input jack middle lug thing? What jacks are you using? It's not plugged in at the wall?

Yeah, I will have to check the jacks again tonight to make sure I didn't swap something on them.  If I accidentally ran the negative of the 9v to the sleeve instead of the ring, then it wouldn't turn off when I remove the cable, right?  Thank you, didn't think about that one yet.  It was late when I discovered the issue.

If you connected battery ground to the sleeve rather than the ring, there would be no power supply switching. Easily done, have a look.

Stereo phone jacks and FETs share a common problem: only three darn connections, but more possible combinations of what goes where than ought to exist, mathematically.

Take a long hard look at where each lug goes t, and do NOT be fooled by what you think you remember when the jack is turned around to do the soldering.

Stupid memory!

Thanks guys, I am willing to bet that is where my problem lies.  I will look into this evening for sure.

For the sake of resolution, I thought I would post that yes, I had the battery ground connected to the wrong lug.  Thanks again.  I was so jazzed from fixing that problem that I pulled out my non-functioning perfboard Cot50 clone and figured out what was wrong with that (had some off board connections hitting the circuit in the wrong places).  It was pretty exciting.
