I wired one of these up, but it isn't passing signal. Before I start going through the debugging threads I'm noticing that the layout on his site and the schematic on the site vary in regards to wiring the pots. Which is right?

Anyone use the PCB-less layout successfully?

yea i did dano's build on the back of the tube socket and it worked fine for me. little tight, check all your joints and make sure you didn't make any "extra" contacts anywhere.

Tone, volume, gain...I don't see where they differ.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

In the schematic lugs 1 and 2 of the tone pot connect to ground and lug 3 of the tone pot connects to the 10nf capacitor that is in series with the 1uf capacitor. Lug 3 of the volume pot connects between the 1uf and 10nf capacitor, lug 2 goes to the output, and lug 1 goes to ground. Lug 3 of the gain pot connects to pin 3 on the tube socket and lugs 1 and 2 connect to ground. That's different from the PCB-less layout.

are you talking about the gain pot? the lug 2 in the schematic is redundant.
