Hi!
There's a new veroboard layout in my gallery: John Hollis' Easy Vibe with RG Keen's LERA (a Leslie style ramp/up down LFO) integrated in the layout. There are a few vero layouts posted for this circuit before, but I thought I'd share mine anyway. Pretty good univibe emulation, but I'm keeping my Neo-Vibe... Very little noise. The LERA add-on is cool, speed range is huge. Some neat over-modulation with depth cranked. All in all a fun and easy build. I made my own opto couplers, and they seem to work out nicely.
All in all, a fun and easy build - try it out!

You can find the schematics needed at www.geofex.com, a deep bow to mr Keen!

There's a sound clip in my gallery as well, demonstrating a few settings.

Where are you guys finding vero this big? Aron's is wide enough, but about 8 holes shy, height-wise.

I've had a vero layout for the EZ sitting in my folder forever because I can't fit it on anything lol.

It should be noted that this is not the LERA add on right?  This is his Leslie Style ramp up for EZ Vibe and Phase 90 Mod correct?  Or is this infact the LERA as it is stated on RG's site?

One thing I found a little annyoing with this circuit is that when you have the ramp rate adjusted to slow, and you adjust the speed pot, it ramps as you adjust it.  You don;t get a real time adjustment of the speed.  I found I had to put the ramp speed to the fastest setting to make changing the speed pots not too annoying.

Anyhoo...  I have a layout for this in my album (PCB), but there is some ticking with the circuit.  I am going to redesign it to avoid this.

Hi Lars
Nice sounding and a good build. The Easy Wibe and the rest of John Hollis Designs are really good. He is really gifted in designing easy to build yet good sounding effects.
But.. Im wery interestid in an other effect that i saw that you have made, The Slow Gear

This is the first effect i have faild to get to work as expected. I have tested and cheched every ting. At first i did not have the FET on the BOM so I tyred every FET I had, about 10 different ones,  combined with  zener diodes from 4.0 to 9.1V. It almost works but in a very narrow setting and not that long swell I have heard form sound samples. I eventually hunted down and ordered the correct FET. It helped a bit but not at all to my satisfaction. I have also tryed with different resistors and caps and matched transisors in the compare stage. So now I have an effect that does works but not to the full extent. That is frustrating since I don't know how I shall trouble shoot it cause it does work. I have quadrupole checked every component value and solderjoints. So this is the first build, from about 30, I have to toss in my towel on.

I would really like it to work because its a cool effect. Its the opposite to a limiter, more like very slow compressor It starts at zero vol and slowly raises the gain over time (1/2 a second to one second or so) . You can get quite strange backwards sound trough it. I found the project on General guitar gadgets but didn't like the PCB. It was too large. I wanted it to fit in to a Hammond BB so I redraw the PCB. I have also followed the instructions on the Topopiccione site.

I'm just curius how well did yours work???

Aw, rats! I always thought that it was the same thing... Now I found the original LERA article - and it's really cool - but definitely another circuit, albeit alike in effect and purpose. My bad. Thanks for pointing this out!
I suppose the trick to speed adjustment is to set the ramp control to the fastest while you set your two speed controls, then adjust he ramp-up speed to where you like it. A minor inconvenience, I think.

The boards I use are about 160X100mm (61X38 holes), I buy mine in Sweden, but I know Banzai has them as well:

Thanks, and I agree with you on John Hollis' work, although I wish I could get his Ultra Flanger to do anything else but whistle :) - now that's a tricky circuit to get to work! My Slow Gear actually worked over my expectations. Check the sound clip in my gallery. It is possible to get even longer swells than that, as I remember it. Check this thread:
http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=72505.0
Then measure your readings and post them in that thread or a new one, I'll dig mine out and we'll do some debugging. This is a circuit that has been troublesome for many, and I suppose that this at times has been a problem of too high expectations.
Kasta inte in handduken ännu, lödarmannen! :)

wow your gallery is amazing.  :o

Reminds me I need to update my workspace with function generators, cap sub boxes and such.

Hey guys!
i've built the easyvibe+lera thanks to the schematics. It works but....
the speed is stuck to the max no matter what...and the pots starts to smoke (litterally) at a particular setting!  :icon_eek:
Any Ideas?
I was born the year Elvis passed away...it probably means something!
