Just a note, the two circuits shown don't act the same way in terms of taper. With the op amp circuit, the gain is inversely proportional to the resistance on the input. So, the gain will dip as the pot approaches the middle of its range and increase near the ends. Anyway, this doesn't seem to be modeled.
