How are the etched and colored f4 faceplates done?

I understand how to etch but I've seen some pics of these done where the copper is colored, how is this done? thanks for any help.

thats aluminium.... the best way i found was to dab the paint in by hand, as many different  colours as you like, its usually just a small etched area anyway..

i spray a little paint into the can lid and brush/dab it in the etch...this way your not covering the whole face  and no need for masking etc..no overspray!..

then let dry fully and sand... :icon_wink:
