Big muff tone control is broken after mod

I tried changing the caps in the tone control circuit, but for some reason the tone control is now functioning like a volume knob [ie full counter clockwise = no sound]. I tried putting the old caps back but it was still malfunctioning. Help!

Can you take a picture of it and post? Something is probably going directly to ground instead of passing through the cap first.

  One of them deals gets in there it's hard to find.
  Sounds like the bass side of the TC circuit is hitting ground.
  A DMM/Audio Probe combo should be able to ferret out where the mod topology departs from the schematic. Can be difficult to find 'it' when there are routes it can take to get to Gnd. or whatever is holding CCW lug 'still' [sounds like DC ground, probably is, any DC voltage will do that.
