Hey guys, im looking at making a tubescreamer clone from general guitar gadgets, the pedal is the its8 (TS-808 clone) and i was wondering a few things.
on the possible mods part there is to make the pedal from symetrical clipping (using the 2 diodes) into assymetrical clipping. On the clone board there is (as i understand ) a place for the extra diode so the pedal can be made permemently assymetrical while it just has a jumper across it to keep it symetrical if you desire. Anyways there is a diagram showing the switch with ALL the diodes on a switch, but i was wondering if they could be left alone and where the thrid diode is meant to go, you have a rotary switch with 1) another diode 2) another LED 3) Bypassed so its still symetrical.
Below is 2 diagrams

Frist one is how they propose

This is what i want ( i know the switching isn't drawn in and ive proably wired it to the wrong area)

With the 2nd picture the diode @ D3 isn't installed on the board of course.
Why cant the 2 diodes stay on the board with a selectable 3rd or bypassed, or is it just a particular way they have done it?

I just did something similar.  I made another small pcb with 6 different clipping options:  4148 sym, 4148 asym, 1n34a, 1n4001, LED, and Schottky Mosfet, hooked up to a 6way rotary.  And I just had 2 leads from the switch/pcb that connected to the feedback loop.  Changing clipping is definitely one of the coolest mods you can do IMO, because it produces the most dramatic results.

so where would the 2 wires go? on the 2nd pic did i have it right? or could yous steer me in the right direction? cheers

Can anyone show me how it would be wired using a rotary switch, im trying to gte my head around it but atm its not giving me anything  :icon_mad:

I'm having problems with the switching. I'd love to see your diagram. Some of my positions (different color LEDs)  don't work. They are going to clean boost. ???
