Here is another take on a NPN buffer. Just add a cap to the schematic above.

High input resistance, good drive, will  bias up with a number of transistors without changing values.

Who needs Jfet source followers?

Have Fun.

thanks gus, i'll try this one out when i get a chance, hopefully will work out better!

are the two round things with +/- in them batteries? do i need two 9 volts, or am i missing something?

or is it one battery, but it's showing to have the audio circuit ground connect to the - of the battery, and ground? sorry...like i said, my brain is hurting!!

V2 is a signal source for simulating the circuit.  Omit V2.

V1 is the 9VDC supply change it to a battery or power supply for a build

The schematic is from a sim of the circuit using LT spice.

I would build it with a higher Hfe transistor like a MPSA18 and a 3.3K or higher emitter resistor

thanks gus...as for revision d....

success !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

turns out i forgot the jumper from b+ to the collector...... :icon_redface:

and worse, i had the base in the wrong hole...so it couldn't get any audio in!!  :icon_redface: :icon_redface: :icon_redface:

this is why i need to drink more coffee sometimes. i've got it wired up on a piece of vero with a couple jacks and a battery. plugged it in, works perfect...
loud, clean, no crackles noise or anything. finally!

gonna try it inside deadastronaut's tiny trem, or rather another one...this will end up being standalone, it looks like. thanks guys for all the help!!!!!! :icon_biggrin:

so i guess revision d is verified....exactly as the layout is. ::)

couldn't have pulled this off tho without all the help, and to quote stan marsh, "i learned something today"....

thanks again, everyone for the help and patience. perhaps next time i'll get it right from the get-go!!

so this one is good to go...funny that i just didn't see my mistake.. :icon_eek:

i am such an eeeeeediot sometimes!  :icon_mrgreen:

Good job! Never give up. The feeling of accomplishment is well worth the pursuit. I too, am a coffeeaholic. I drink coffee and read this forum! (and build occasionally)  :D

Gus, since it was mentioned, whenever a schematic is shown with the V1, and V2 like yours (for those of us who don't use LT spice) V1 is the +9v supply and ground and V2 is the input jack tip and sleeve when compared to a "regular" schematic. I see these alot and knew V2 represented a signal generator of some type but just to be clear, V1 is batt and V2 is input on your example. Yes? No?

thanks bro,....and thanks for the explanation of spice! i was getting kinda confused...i thought that may be the case looking at it.

need more coffee!!
lol :D

hi jimi, the shaded area on the electrolytics ARE negative in diylc ok...just to clear that up... :icon_wink:

thanks rob! i think where i screwed up with that idea was using the electrolytics like BLOCKING caps..like you would do in the audio path...duh-uhhh...well, my lack of caffeienation showed, i mean, the way i had it, it was blocking the dc, not filtering it. ooops!

but the cool thing is that the original layout was right all along. got more parts yesterday, gonna try and add it to your tiny tremoloooooo...i put it before the trem yesterday, it worked well, so i'm thinking one internally may be just the ticket.

one more in my endless questions...do i need to build a separate power supply, or can i just tap off the 9volt? if i do that, do i need some kind of voltage divider?

hang on a sec, will take a couple pics with my crummy phone of the circuit...it was a lot prettier before i started second guessing it, and has some kinda blobby looking solder..

kinda like electronic cellulite pron...lol..

cool...

yeah take it off the same 9v should be ok....just make sure it grounds too... :icon_wink:
