I combed the search thread and google. Just a simple question:

Is the external 30pF cap needed with the LM308AH metal can op amp?

I know it is needed with the PDIP LM308N. I thought I read something long ago that it was not needed with the metal can.

Anyone have any first-hand knowledge with this?

Thanks  ;D

There's nothing in the LM308A datasheet that says "compensation cap not needed for metal can". Plus the can still gives access to those pins.
Bringing you yesterday's technology tomorrow.

As far as I know the compensation cap is a crucial part of the RAT's sound, it should work fine without it but it won't sound like a RAT.

I appreciate all of the responses  ;D

I think I am just going to try it with the 33pF cap and see how it goes. Its within +/- 10% so I don't expect any problems  ;)
