Yey finished breadboarding a crunch box clone and it works like butter

used this schematic

the only thing that I changed is the C2 which I couldn't find and put a 0.0068 (the closest I could get to 0.001) and I took of the tone knob out..
so lug 3 is connected directly to lug 1. lug 2 and C10 are not there (did this due the lack of room in the enclosure)

anyways i have a few questions/plans... with my strat it was kinda bassy you know.. not that very crunchy so i am thinking of boosting some highs in the end.... or a bass roll off... basically something to brighten it up. also may be a i could put a fixed mid scoop?? ideas?? how do i do this?? :)

and yeah it's freaking cool!!.. really awesome.. i'll soon put this on a prefboard and into an enclosure :)
i'll put up clips along with pictures later when im done :)

Can you tell me what leds did you use for D2 and D3? Standard red 5mm will work, or do i need low currents?

I don't know what  C2 to ground does, but you made it over 6 times larger, so I wouldn't mod anything yet till you try the real value.

It's a cliche, but lower the input cap C1 to brighten it up.

good luck

The tone section is important. Especially, try finding the schematic for the version with a presence knob. It makes a big difference.  I'm not sure what you mean by "crunch", but I built this box to get some nice chug chug metal sounds and it's all about the EQ after the high gain.. I tried a few different tone stacks (Big Muff, SWTC) before settling with the Crunch Box's tone+presence one.

Basically the 10K / 4.7K divider at the end is replaced by a 20K pot (I used a 25K because that's all I had).  220nF for both the tone cap and the presence cap. The 1K becomes 470 ohm right before the clipping LEDs.  I think that's pretty much it.
