Easy Vibe LDR's to shrink tube or not

I am building my first Vibe, doing RG Keens Layout of the easy vibe.  I have seen several versions, some of which have the Led's and Ldr's connected in shrink tube, some taped together with the LDR taped to the side of the LED.  I am using the NSL-7350 from Small bear which is 1/4" diameter with 3mm Red LEd's, because of the size difference, these would be hard to shrink up together.
Has any one used this combination. What are the thoughts on positioning and or wrapping the two components?
Thanks Ed

once your build is boxed up, it makes no differance if they're naked or shrinktubed. it might be easier to trace errors if needed if you shrinktube, but otherwise it's a waste of time..and shrinktube

Any thoughts on location in relation to the led, facing the side, over the top?

Didn't have much trouble with any of it.
It takes a f'air bit of light to make the sweep sweep.
If you have bright lights and a holey box that's different.
These LDR's seem to go up in resistance easy, and I don't think the phase stages even care about anything over 'high R' = what the LDR's seem to do easily, even when low light is actually 1/2 on them [easy vibe is kinda open for testruns, hard to tell when I close it] the phase sweeps.
I wrapped 'em in white paper which...many layers doesn't block light very well, but it is 'bright' and so preferred to dark surface interior...dunno if it even matters...reflective might...but that equated to conductive [no no] when I looked for immediately available materials.
Others report making flat surfaces of LDR/LED[sanded flat] faces bond with superbond type glue.
I did some tests and found Red does fine, and for shine-only, the Green flat-tip [beam angles something like a flashlight...most of the photons go out the front], shined across at an angle so the beam is hitting the entire wwwwiggly line surface worked good...for EZvibe [I built 2, 1 with little red LEDs and RS LDRs, another with optocouplers, then put different LED's in #1...so have messed around with photo-transfer-to-cell stuff]...they all worked just fine afaict.
have 9vdc, grab LED's and LDR's, [recommend 470ohm or so stop resistor, and pot because LED's light brightest and burn at different currents] see what R values can be had by experimenting.

Thanks for input I will try a few different orientations to see what i like best.
Can you fill me in on the polarity of the LED's.  the PCB does not show and Square tabs for the + side
