I ordered a few US power plugs (extension bits for a wall wart). They have two parallel flat pins, like the one i know - but the pins don't have holes by their end. Shall i return it, or is that all right?

It's ok, they'll work just the same.

I had no idea what those holes are for, so I started googling and found this: http://home.howstuffworks.com/two-flat-prong-plug-holes.htm.

Interesting, but I don't think any of those purposes make the holes necessary.  Your plugs are fine.

The 1st two are valid reasons. It is likely that the plugs with no holes are both the same size/height ("non=polarized"). In either case, as Evan said, they'll work just fine.
It's all about the tone!
