Hey all,

Been messing around with the Run of Groove/home wrecker  Odie

http://www.home-wrecker.com/odie.html

As this im first effort to build using Jfets I'm quite impressed that it worked first time on the bread board. Most of my build go a little messy and usually die a painfull death.
but im learning. Anyhow i like the heavier end of sound (metal, hard rock) and I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for getting the most out of this build.

The sound from the Odie is a bit rustic so I'm looking to get a bit more body in to it and hopfully adjust the tone to be more responsive

I have repaced the 250k pot at the drive stage with a 500k because i don't have a 250, would this effect the tone ? Also i have replaced the 3n3 and 6n8 with a 2n2 and 4n7 respectfully

Taking a look at the schematic you'll notice that last JFET is acting as a buffer, and therefore not really adding any gain.  That said, this is really only a 2-FET circuit, which IMO, isn't really enough to get you into that "Metal" category.

hi mark,

true yeh its only two j201's but i find that with adding adding the effect when the amp is a little bit dirty it dose have potential for some great sounds. I know its not going to make my 100 watt marshall with its tube pre amp scream like an Engl of a Messa lol.

Guess what im looking for is to give the effect the ability to drive hard but retain good Mids and tone
