I just want to check this before I go and fry the Ge transistors I have.

Here's the layout I'm using:
http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/pdf/ggg_ff5_lo_easy.pdf

Instead of a PNP Ge transistor I want to use a NPN Ge transistor and power it with a standard 'boss type' power supply.

I know I have to 'flip' the el. caps, the diode and the LED. Also, I need to use a 2N3904 as Q1.

Now, what do I do with the power supply input? Do I leave it as per layout? And the orientation of the transistors (E B C)?

Thanks!

Hi--

Breadboard it before you commit to solder:

My directions specify silicon devices for Q1 and Q2, but you can tweak the bias trimpot to accommodate Si/Ge. When you have it working, head for the Beginner area here:

for a couple of structured, tested builds.

You can always incorporate a charge pump circuit to generate a -9V output from a Boss-type power supply.

Use the Search function on here to look for "Charge Pump" and it should be pretty straight forward.

Exiting the power jack, swap the red and black leads, the red lead shown attached to the ring should go to the board. The black lead shown to the board should be moved to the ring of the input jack.
