Fuzz pot variables

I modded a Fuzz Face circuit to have the 2k fuzz pot and 18k Q2 bias resistor combo and I liked it.  I noticed that in Analogman's Peppermint Fuzz, the Q2 bias resistor is (primarily) a 50KB trimmer; I am assuming that this is to handle the very high gain that Q2 possesses (around 250 Hfe, I think).  Would the 2K fuzz pot be suitable with this combination or does it, too, have to be adjusted?  Maybe a 5k?
