I finally made something that works. I thought I would just quickly post that journey here, I hope this is the right spot I couldn't see anywhere better.
This is what I would tell my month ago self. 1. Breadboard a few circuits from schematics (which I did)
                                                                2. Make an audio probe (which I didn't do till much later)
                                                                3. Find a simple schematic and appropriate layout for perf or vero (which I did)
                                                                4. build it on a bread board so you know the components are good and use them to populate the perfboard and rebuild the bread board with new components at the same time (this can be used for voltage references when the board doesn't work.)
                                                                5. Redraw the perfboard layout on grid paper allowing your self much more space (which I didn't do till much later). Your not trying to get to the moon, so more room for the soldering is really helpful especially when you start fixing mistakes.
                                                                 6. Don't get to complicated to fast (which I didn't do)
                                                                 7. even though you think you have perfectly followed the verified layout, you haven't. That is why it doesn't work.

I made a tube reamer by the way and it sounds great. (this was after a failed bronx cheer, mxr distortion, lpb-1)

Sorry I was half way through when I posted by accident, see above

congrats! btw, your attempt at the Bronx Cheer may have been working... it's pretty bad  :P

I liked the bronx cheer on the bread board but only with really high output humbuckers adjusted up really close to the strings
