I'm going to be putting together a copy of the Brian May Treble Booster (hopefully today), except I want to take out the 10k pot and use a fixed resistor to make it work at full blast.  On the project's webpage it says the 10k pot replaced a 6.8k resistor, however, in the schematic it shows all three lugs of the pot wired up; terminal 3 makes the only connection to the transistor's collector, terminal 2 connects to a small cap which connects to the output of the switch, and terminal 1 connects to 3 different resistors and 1 cap.

I tried e-mailing GGG but got a very unenthusiastic reply.  All I'm wondering is where I would place the resistor, and if I actually need two in this case since the pot has all 3 lugs wired.  Thanks for any help you can bring this way.

Just replace R3 with a resistor (10K or 6K8, will be nearly the same) connected where the outer lugs of the pot go, and connect the C2 cap to the end that goes to Q1.

Great, thanks for the reply.

After searching the forum I found the below reply, and so I was going to try connecting two ~4.7k resistors to replace the pot, but I'll try your idea first.

"You can think of a potentiometer as 2 resistors connected together at one end each. The wiper is the point where they meet. As you turn the knob, the resistor on one side becomes larger in value while the other gets smaller, and vice versa turning the other way. To replace the boost knob in the RM you'll need to use 2 resistors. Connect them together, and the other end of one the collector, and the other end of the other to 9v. The joint between the 2 resistors connects to the output cap."

You need to use two resistors if you want less than full volume, the example you gave would be the same as the pot set in the middle. If you want full volume then just do what Morocotopo said.
