ok here it is. i found a nice tone the other day and was wondering 1) whats going on to make this sound good and 2) can i build a pedal to get this sweet sweet sound? here's my set up: jazz bass with chromes vol. at 25%, bad monkey gain at 50%, bass big muff bass boost on gain at 50%. now the bad monkey all by it's self sounds good and the bass muff buy it's self is ok but together it's pure bobo de chimp's fuzz of his dreams. it's strange i would think that i'm cutting my sound only to boost it again with the BM before running in to the BBM but i know there has to be something more going on here. i would love to build a custom bmp to do this. i know why would i build a pedal for a sound i all ready have on tap. but i thought it would be fun just to build some thing along that order. i have posed this question on talk bass  and was lead to Google even order harmonics but hay i'm pritty smart "even thou my grammar and spelling sucks" but i am not anything close to understanding what it all means to me and my sound. so please dumb down your comments. and i wouldn't be offended if you had to do it in crayon.

it seems pretty simple, you build clones, or rehouse your pedals and measure all the pot values so you can replace them with fixed resistors. there is a bad monkey clone pcb and a bass muff clone pcb floating around somewhere. as for the rolling the volume down on the bass thing, you might want to experiment with putting resistance in series with the input of the pedal to simulate this. try a 100k linear pot and dial it in to the sweet spot while you have the pcb's on your bench. I'm not sure if it makes a difference to have the 100k before or after the input cap. the biggest challenge is getting 2 pcb's into a small box with a volume knob only.

good luck

i got this steal box that's about the size of a early 90's Russian muff that i could fit a hole army of pcb in to. but i was hopeing more for a son of the two not just a clone to clone splice. what i was thinking "please please correct me if i am wrong" is a three stage muff. the first stage would be soft asymmetric clipping in to two traditional muff stages with a  mod wile i'm in there. yes no?

sound is a funny thing. if you want that exact sound... do it like that exactly. if you want to mess around like a bad monkey ;D... you'll be putting in work till you get back to that sound on a simpler circuit.

now it doesn't have to be the same cause well i already have that sound but something a kin to it. i was just wondering if i am on the right track or just barking up the wrong tree with this one?
