I correct something I said previously, the resistor could actually have .1 volts across it due to the fact that diodes (like an LED) allow a small current to flow (called reverse saturation current) when there is a reverse bias (reverse voltage)...once again leading to the conclusion that something is possibly backwards, either the power supply or the LED.

Eureka!  Looks like the indicator led was bad and one of the clipping led diodes was oriented backwards.  I learned a lot of stuff going through this process, and I can't thank you guys enough.

The pedal into my Germino Club 40 just ROARS and even with my tele plays on the razors edge of feedback and harmonics.  It's just a Holy Cow experience.  One side of the clipper switch is much lower volume and drive wise though, so I can see some tape being put over it for permanent.

Thanks again freeride and everybody.

Now I'm thinking I'd like to try building a Champ head.

hey that's what we like to hear!  I agree with you, that pedal does roar!  the toggle switch on top holds some great subtleties between clipping diodes, but yes one side is much quieter than the other.  I had been in love with the middle position since I built it but just recently decided to try changing it up and man, the switch to the right for me (not sure whether that's the LEDs or silicon diodes because it depends if I mounted the swtich one way or the other) sounds fantastic for softer rhythm parts and for killer dark melodic sounds.  I use it for soft, dirty rhythm parts like country and then burn it up for dark SRV leads, it's truly a killer pedal, glad yours finally works!  Experiment with it, you can't go wrong.
