so i am modding a GCB 95 to true bypass, and ran into a very strange problem.

the 8 prong plug at the top of the pcb is not passing current or something, because i have continuity all the way to that part of the circuit, but nowhere past it.

as you can see in the following pic, i had to cut the purple wire out of the clip and hard solder it directly to the tip of the output jack for the pedal to get a bypass signal.

it is now not passing an effected signal, but this doesn't seem right.  can someone help me please?!

and how the switch is wired...

very easy test. with harness off,  cont check from top of pins to traces underneath. statically almost never have a prob there.

same check on the harness, do the wires all make it to their destination with signal?

how did you cut the one trace to make it TBP?

if your terminal connector is one row off, it would make it possible look like the whole thing isn't right.
your answer is in your cont checker

i was not aware that a trace had to be cut to make the pedal true bypass.  i just followed the following video:

i followed the same guys video to convert one to true bypass with LED using a 3pdt stomp and it worked fine?!

I think he meant to say "how did you cut the one WIRE..."

The purple one I presume  :icon_biggrin:

can you guys link me please?!

the purple one that i cut is pictured above.  it is next to the blue wire in the plug, but i just cut the top of the plug, stripped it, and put it in the same hole as the output jack tip.

also, everything has continuity across the pcb.

would removing the input buffer affect the fatwah mod if i left that 10k resistor there?

**edit**

rewired everything to the above link, still no sound when not in bypass.  the first time i plug in the battery, if i strum and switch to effect it will wah the signal while decreasing the volume until there is no signal, and then it will not pass anymore signal until i take the battery out and clip it again.

what i mean by wahing the signal is it will act as if i am slowly pressing on the pedal so the wah is increasing a little bit until the volume swells out.

i moved the purple wire back to the clip and its working there now tho.

i was talking about a trace that is cut on the board to the input cap of the buffer that gets cut when you make it TBP.

i don't watch videos about it, so i just do what is necessary to run the least number of new wires from the sw to the bd (1 in my way of doing it)

yea, i cut that trace.  last time i did it the instructions called for 1 wire, but this time they called for 2.  i dont understand that either, but when it called for 1 wire it was to install a 3pdt vs the 2 needed wires for the 2pdt.

i put a bridge over the trace, and removed the whole buffer section and wired it up the other way, still having the same problem
