fuzz face mod question

I have a npn fuzz face on the breadboard that I butchered. its all 2n5088. I put a 100pf>4148>4148>4148>4148>4k7 from base to coll of Q2. I'm getting about 1.7v at the base of Q2. probably 1.7v at the collector too. its a bit gated so I threw a muffmaster boost in front. sounds great and has loads of sustain but right at the end of the note, it glitches out. a real quiet glitch. but the problem is that this fuzz is not a glitchy sputtery mess so the glitch tail doesn't really fit the big picture. another thing, without the boost in front. I get nothing with my strat vol rolled down to 8. and the output of the whole thing gets muddy when rolling down the 100k volume. do I need to use 50k vol? or buffer the output? do I need more diodes from base to coll of Q2?

oh yeah forgot to mention the 4148's have cathode to base

if Q2 collector voltage is 1.7v, wouldn't you expect to get some type of poor decay/sustain...or any number of other problems?

No chance of getting it closer to 4.5v?
always think outside the box

If both the collector and the base are the same voltage it shouldn't "work."  Try raising the C

I actually got it working. the caps and diodes on Q2 BC had no change in sound when I removed them. Q2 base voltage also didn't change. it was just a noob mistake that happens when randomly plugging stuff on a breadboard. all my problems were from resistor values way way off from the stock fuzz face. as soon as I got a little closer to the stock NPN fuzz face schematic, I popped in some 2N5133 and learned how to bias a transistor with 4.5v at the collector. its finished. now I'm breadboarding and modding a new fuzz everyday and I have a tight collection of germanium and silicon transistors to keep me busy. lots of fun. ;D
