i am offering this to 3 willing participants. please only respond if you have time to build this pedal soon/ have enough parts( or funds) to complete build reasonably soon. curious how this circuit will do with the switch to npn trannies and neg. ground. you will receive a pcb and three transistors necessary for build.

the tarpit meltdown is a further evolution of the dinosaur fuzz that has a third gainstage beyond a hybrid FF topology. with control over tones ( via a modded tonebender style cap blend off collector), starve control and dual mode diode clipping on 3rd stage along with a feedback loop there are many many tones available from the small number of knobs. some people have called it a mini-skyripper and i tend to agree. i sold about 5 of these between 03 and 05, the reviews were excellent.

pcb and layout by the illustrious john lyons. layout sheet available.
schematic ( old pnp version)

boards are 1-1/4" by 2-1/2", i built tarpits in regular 1590BB boxes in the past.

i can supply some of the other parts - pots, silver mica caps & misc if needed ( sold to you at my cost ), let me know what else you need

offer good in the US only. sorry canada, your socialist mail system is bugging me - wake up america, we are headed down the same bad road if we don't get some fiscal sense into our heads soon. and yes, i mean cutbacks on entitlements and union thuggery.

cool, joe.
please pm with your address if you want in on this.

one more note - the closest i have ever  gotten to the beatles 'revolutiion' fuzz tone is with a tarpit. combination of gnarly treble ( available) and cutout saturation with this.

Hi Joe.
I'm relatively new to pedal building, but got the stuff, time, and chops to get it done this week. I can also get it into some players hands relatively soon. If you still have'em available, please check your PM for my contact info.

If not, that's coolio too. I'd love to see/hear the results.

Question: What is Q2? I looked up B22 and get mostly suffixed Zeners.
Give a man Fuzz, and he'll jam for a day... teach a man how to make a Fuzz and he'll never jam again!

oh crap, i should make a note. the b22 is an old  RCa germ from the early 60s or late 50s. i've found two of them over my career, they are some of the best sounding germs i have ever heard. strong, clear , full.

any good, low leakage Ge with preferred gain of 115 to 130 using RG's method will be fine. if you can find a Ge with 130 or better using the RG method, you are lucky.. that is rare air IME.
