Hi all.

I was comparing the GGG truebypass/input ground off-board diagram with Tonepad #5. (links below) The Tonepad shows grounding the shields of both jacks directly (or through the enclosure) whereas the GGG shows grounding via the circuit board ground points.

Is there an advantage to either one?

Is grounding these through the circuit board adequate?

What about grounding both ways - or is that asking for trouble?  ???

The argument against connecting in and output grounds only via the enclosure is related to the fact that the aluminium oxide layer on the suface of the enclosure under the jack sockets could prevent the ideal connection; Additionally, if a jack comes loose, the ground connection will become intermittent. I tend to wire the dc negative to output, then run two further wires, one to circuit ground and one to input ground.
