Hello, I am building the GGG ITS8, and I got everything put together, and it turns on, but it does not sound too good... I am doing the "very expensive boutique" mod and the AMZ Fat mod. I busted out the multimeter and checked the voltages on everything.

Battery by itself: 8.37
Battery on circuit: 3.74

IC1: 1.90
IC2: 1.97
IC3: 1.87
IC4: 0
IC5: 1.89
IC6: 1.89
IC7: 1.89
IC8: 3.70

Q1 Collector: 3.60
Q1 Base: 1.77
Q1 Emitter: 1.28

Q2 Collector: 3.53
Q2 Base: 1.51
Q2 Emitter:1.02

Thanks in advance!

You clearly have either battery or power problems.

Could you post a link to the schematic and mods description you actually used so I don't accidentally find the wrong one and make things worse?  :icon_biggrin:

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

One more thing that might help diagnosing this is that when I use a power supply, it will not turn on without a battery connected.

How about a picture of the back of the board? Is there a solder track from one of the many wires under the 9V rail shorting to the 9V trace? The whole long trace on that edge of the board should read 9V. Try grounding the battery snap black lead to the input jack ring or directly to ground and connect the red battery snap lead to the 9V pad with the DC adapter out of the circuit completely. Your bias is right, 1/2 of 3.74V! Get the 3.74V to 9V and you should be on the way.

You guys are so smart! :D It was a power problem indeed. I plugged in a power supply, and with my multimeter determined one of the positive leads (not sure if that's the right term for this) on the jack was bad. So I just desoldered the wire connected to it and moved it over to the lead (?) and I think it is working properly now! Now I just need to hold my mouth right while I put everything in the box...  :icon_wink:

Thanks everyone for your help!
