ha ha

that's right Marty.
My favorite guitar merchant is out of stock too. Seems like every "name" in town is coming in for TWO.

Funnest thing since sliced bread.

I just sat here and watched your GIF replay like 20 times, chuckling.

I like the tone of AC125 in most everything. They aren't particularly consistent or low leakage but they sound good and work in all my circuits :)

Couldn't resist...

I have an RCA SK3003 here that sounds really good compared to the rest I have... seems smoother, the distortion doesn't seem as brittle. And it's REALLY high gain, low leakage. Wish I had a bunch more of them.
Give a man Fuzz, and he'll jam for a day... teach a man how to make a Fuzz and he'll never jam again!

Anyway, I have bags full of 2N404A, 2SB135, 2SB186, 2N1309 and they all sound great when I go through the GEO transistor tester for gain and Joe Davissons Analog Alchemy site for resistors to use.

Ah...

My vote goes to the OC44 / CV4077, with the OC45 coming in second place.

OC44 works better in Rangemasters, with '45s making a grainy, bloomy Fuzz Face.

Have tried NPN Ge devices - wanting a neg.ground Fuzz Face to 'play nicely' with everything else.

Was disappointed with the AC176s I bought from eBay - was not as good a FF as the '45 - even after bias adjustment.

Ya lives, ya learns...
Happiness is a warm etchant bath.

Hello,

OC44 and OC71 for Rangemaster-Booster
and AC122, AC125 and OC75 for Fuzzes  :)
