My friend used to have a keeley modded ts9 and said it was the best overdrive pedal he's ever used. His board got stolen and with the insurance money he bought a ts808 reissue to replace the ts9. Now he wants the sound of the keeyley mod he used to have-just wondering i anyone knows what parts you would change and what for to get the sound of the keeley mod?

cap from a 0.047 to a 0.1uF
increase the gain possible
resistor is dropped from a 4.7k to a 2.4k.
51k and lower it to 20k.
1uF electrolytic caps to ... 1uF metal film caps.
gold socket for the chip
upgrade the tone control circuit
.22uF Tantalum to a 0.18uF
improve parts of the fet switching
check all the factory solder joints
resistors ...are metal film
think twice before sending it off to a man that promises you very little substance.

Seems to me it is not just a "mod", that it is a complete frame-up re-build. And not too very expensive for that much fastidious hand-work. And where would we get new "mods" if people like Keeley don't get work and have to find a real job?

Kinda OT: This reminds me of the time a saw a used SD-1 @ GC that looked remarkably like one of the SD-1s I modded. I asked the GC sales guy about it and he proceeded to tell me that it was a 'Keeley' modded SD-1 and that it sounds like this and like that, so on and so forth. So I asked if I could take a look at it and pop the battery compartment lid. Sure enough, it was one I had worked on. Turns out, the guy I modded the pedal for sold it to GC and told them it was 'Keeley' modded  :D as soon as the GC guy found out it wasn't 'Keeley' modded, his impressions of the pedal changed :D he did say that it was a good sounding mod but "it isn't a Keeley mod"  :P

Maybe the original owner did the Keeley mods himself. Why wouldn't that sound as a good?
