I need an AB box to switch between two amps. I just built one of the amps (a Trinity TC 15) and thought I'd build the AB. I found this Fulltone layout for one and it looks great  http://www.fulltone.com/sites/default/files/manuals/fultone-a-b-switcher.pdf . Now I already had most of the parts (Box, jacks, 3PDT switch) but need to get the yellow and red LEDs. This is so, so noobish but I'm not sure which ones to get. You would think someone who has built a couple amps could figure this out  :icon_redface: :icon_redface: :icon_redface:. Fact is I'm good with a soldering iron and great at following directs but don't know much about electronics. The Fulltone layout gives the part numbers to buy the LEDs from Mouser but I'd rather not pay for shipping on 2 bucks worth of parts and assume they should be pretty easy to get at a local electronics store here in Southern California. I was hoping someone would be kind enough to take a look and let me know what I should be looking for. Will just about any 1 3/4" LED due? If not, what are the particular specifications I should be looking for (operating voltage, operating current????) .

Here are the specifications for the LEDs on the Mouser site:

(Size 1 3/4"), (Lens style--Diffused), (Operating Voltage--2V), (Wavelength--660), (Luminous Intensity--660nm), (Opperating current--20mA), (View Angle 60 degree)

Here's a link to the red LED on the mouser site http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Kingbright/WP7113HD/?qs=Ib8N9n9oTqO7qxWQxLxAVA%3d%3d.

Thanks

Go to your local Radio Shack (or equivilent) and just ask for a 5mm Diffused RED and 5mm Diffused Yellow LED.

They are the same as the ones at Mouser (a little bit pricier but, you ARE saving shipping  ;D)

DONT FORGET THE CURRENT LIMITING RESISTORS!!!

1K should work for each LED.

Good Luck  ;D

From one Government Lacky to another one I thank you. The two amps I built were kits and while I learned a great deal about electronics for the experience there are still so many basic things I don't understand. I've read a few book on electronics but it's so hard for such abstract ideas to stick in my brain. :icon_evil: I'm hoping to build some stompboxes to help me learn from doing. While I don't expect to become an expert I would like to some day get beyond the strick "paint by numbers" situation I'm in at this point. It's so great to be able to ask a question like this and have someone give such a thoughful answer

Best,
Matt
