Hi there!

I'm pretty new to the forum and also pretty new to the world of building pedals. I saw on YouTube a demo of the EQD Speaker Cranker and thought it'd be an easy enough pedal to build! I have a diagram of the board but wanted to reach out to people who were more knowledgeable than I am about what components I need, how to wire the board, etc.

Does anyone know what components/ types of caps, diodes, resistors, etc I'd need to start this build? Any info helps! I know there is another thread on the forum about these too that I was looking at but didn't really understand.

Welcome to the forum.
It took me a while to find a related thread.

There is also a couple of perfboard layouts in the gallery. IIRC.
These will give you an idea about off board wiring.

You can use 1/4watt resistors
For any polarised capacitors. Use 16v
Diodes 1n4148

All the stuff you need can be bought at the common vendors people here use
Small bear, farnell, mammoth, Tayda, etc
I guess it depends on where in the world you are.
It's probably a good idea to buy extra componants for the build in case of build faults.
Good luck with your build.

I'll go look for a layout hold on.
Edit,
Please be aware I have not compared the values against the schematic in the above thread. Nor do I know if it's verified.

> what components/ types

On one hand, parts is parts. OTOH, there's some electrically equivalent parts which are physically awkward.

For a start, shop only at pedal parts specialists. Small Bear won't sell you a wrong part (too big to fit, too small to see, wildly excess rating). There are several others world-wide.

Farnell, Mouser, and even now Tayda sell LOTS of parts, many of which are not really suited for pedals. And until you handle many parts, you won't really know what you need. While the big warehouses can get ANY part in vast quantity and sometimes low price, you can end up with pepper-grains which ARE resistors but too small for hand assembly. They are essential for making smart-phones, TV remotes, and all the small gadgets of the modern world, but not-right for beginner DIY pedals.

First suggestion: Breadboard the thing before you commit to solder; you are more likely to wind up with a working build if you first satisfy yourself that the components are good and you know a little about how they behave.

Second suggestion:  This circuit is very similar to numerous one-stage, diode-clipping distortions. If you spend for my Ursa Minor breadboard kit:

http://smallbear-electronics.mybigcommerce.com/breadboard-the-ursa-minor/

you'll get everything you need to set up the Ursa. Write to us after you order and I will include the few resistors you need to set up the Speaker Cranker; it's the same idea, just slightly different biasing. There is a parts list at the end of the article that should help you order if you want to buy individual pieces.

When you have it working, this article:

http://diy.smallbearelec.com/Projects/UrsaMinor/UrsaMinor.htm

explains how to put it in an enclosure.
