A/B fader?

i was going to throw together this simple passive A/B pedal (http://www.tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=107), but what i have really been wanting is an A/B fader pedal. now if i were to simply insert (opposing) volume pots in the output legs it would fade, but i would suffer 1/2 volume in the middle position, correct? is there an easy fix? do i have to go active, or buffered? any schematics, help, or ideas are appreciated. thanks, steve
