This is nothing new, but I have been messing with it and am surprised at how versatile it is.  You can go from a mild to deep notch at frequencies from around 200Hz to 1500Hz.  It would probably work better with log or anti log pots, I'm not sure which.  You can also try it with different caps.  May want the pots externally mounted.

Start with your distortion with the highs and lows rolled off for a slight midrange boost.  Then when using this circuit, you will have a little boost with your cut.  Get a different EQ each time you play it.

Using the Duncan Tonestack Calculator with the James circuit and some values zeroed out, you can simulate the curves.

It should work on most fuzzes, distortions, OD's, etc. Probably works better with higher output circuits as it will cause a loss of output.  Fuzz Face, MXR, Tube Screamer, Tube Sounding Fuzz, BSIAB, Obsidian, Vulcan, Blackfire, BOR, etc.  ;)
