where to put clipping diodes in a JFET based overdrive?

I was looking at the ROG "Odie" circuit and thought it might be interesting to place some clipping diodes in there:

I was thinking of putting the diodes to ground right before the 22n cap at the tail end of the circuit, so the sequence would go: 10K-to-ground --> clipping diodes-to-ground --> 22n cap --> 100KA volume pot.

I am assuming that adding diodes here would rob a bit of the output signal...correct?  Would using diodes for assymetrical clipping (two against one) hellp here?

try after the 6n8 capacitor, right before the tone control
the last JFET is just a buffer

It looks like the tone control and resistor are floating since they have coupling capacitors at each end and no DC path to ground.  Either the 6n8 or the 1n is unnecessary in the circuit as it stands and it pays to not have anything floating since static charge can build up and cause breakdown or hum modulation.  Diodes as recommended by Seljer would make this correct.
