Anyone know a good source (preferably US based) to buy some 4 pole 3.5m plugs AND jacks for an iRig attempt?

I have looked all over and only find them on eBay and from china  :-[

Not what you're after I know, but have you considered an iPod/iPhone/iPad dock? You can pick these up for about $5 shipped from (for example) dealextreme.com or any of the direct from China websites. These will typically have a standard 3.5mm line in jack on the back that you can use... Suspect that you'd need this to be plugged into USB for it to work however, which may defeat the purpose.

I want to try out the iRig project from this site. I would really like to NOT hack up a good cable and have to deal with the microscopic wires in it. That is why I am looking for a source for a solder-able plug. I can get the wire for it but, I cannot find a semi-local source for them.

Gotcha. Had a closer look at my dock and it's a line out not a line in anyway. Duh. Could be converted to a line in - but would require soldering those microscopic cables!

Good luck - it's on my to do list too!
