Silent footswitch for M9?

First post. This is my second DIY or rather repair project with pedals, perhaps one of you can nudge me in the right direction for a project to improve/fix some temperamental stompboxes that don't like to be stomped upon?

The offender is an M9 multieffect and looper that when used intensively receives its fair share of stomping in the way that the switches don't always react when pressed. The first time this happened my girlfriend (she does all the stomping) panicked and went out and bought a 2nd M9, because when your sound depends heavily on a box, you need a backup. A pattern is emerging here, because her DL4 had the same quirks after some time, and I suspect the switches which use the same mechanism in the DL4 amd the M9 to be the culprits. One M9 has been fixed under warranty, but I am ready to apply some dyi improvements, novice that I am with a soldering iron, but I can practise on the DL4 before moving up to the M9.

Also, I would like a silent (or quiet) switch to replace the clicky ones, as the sound levels are not always loud enough to mask the stomping. I've noticed that the tactile switches can be removed from the main board and the foot switch be replaced with a switch like the Momentary SPST "Soft-Touch" http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=672 with only a bit of cable and soldering. Can someone recommend a switch with a silent or barely noticeable click that I can use in these boxes, and is there anything else I should pay attention to with this mod? If you post a link, I live in scandinavia, and shipping costs can be a bit cracy from the states, but I'll take what I can get!

I've noticed that someone makes midi-stompboxes with 2-6 footswitches on them to control the looper function of as an example an M9, and this might reduce the wear, but I'm not keen on the switch layout that I've seen. Perhaps I should build my own!?

Thanks in advance, /John

Hi--

We have been out of those soft-touch switches for awhile, but a boat will be docking this week with several thousand. We'll be posting for sale again soon.

Those parts have become a common fix for the DL4, and they have no click at all.

ok, thanks, i'll keep a watch on that, and post a new thread about the midi stomper.
