IC switching, without stacking on a V4 Big Muff?

Hey guys, wanted to have a choice of switching from the stock RC4558N8 to at least one alternative OpAmp.....but due to RC4558N8's being hard to find I dont want to just stack the chips, are there any 8pin dip board designs out there that do this job?

Got something like this in my mind, but would love to hear other peoples take!

I've been thinking about switching ICs lately, too. The only thing that comes to mind is switching the power/ground to either IC. Let's see if anyone has a better idea...

Rotary switches ? That would be a hell of a wiring .

Could you not have all the pins of both IC's connected to the Dip pins, with the exception of 1 & 7 (1Out/2Out) that would go to a dpdt switch (or rotary for more then 2 ICs).

A little something like this? (sorry for the bad photo shop job!!!)

That could give you problems with the input impedance. You'd be much better off switching the inputs IMO, or the power rails. Dunno...

yea, exactly :)

and just use a 2pol 5 pos alpha rotary

the cheap milspec version,  hardly takes any place ina  box and costs  not to much :)

bigger rotary selectors are cheaper but this fits even in a 1590A Tubescreamer project.
I'm using this way of IC selection in a tubescreamer project and it works well :)

so there is no impedance problems switching just the OUT pins (1&7) on the ICs, as per the beavisaudio way?
