Hi all,

Can anyone help.

Is the CA3080E the same as the CA3080 except that the packaging is different?. From what I can make out in the spec sheets this is the case. But I am just being 100% sure before I go ahead with the build.

I have noticed that there is a CA3080A but I believe this has different characteristics.

Many Thanks,

HL

When you aren't sure about a replacement on the basis of a suffix, just get hold of the datasheet online by entering the part number minus the suffix plus "pdf" into Google (in this instance CA3080).  The datasheet will generally provide information about which package forms or which feature sets are associated with which suffix.

Letter suffixes for linear chips are typically associated with package form (metal can, dip, SIP, SMT, etc.) but are also associated with things like specs (mil spec, low noise version, lower power version, etc.).

Thought not always true in all instances, when it comes to most linear chips, the same chip number in the same package will be able to simply plug right in as a sub for another of the same number, although the specs may differ.

Hi guys, I built the Ross Dyna Comp using CA3080E.

The problem seems to be the CA3080E...  ???

when removing it (soket!!) and wiring pin 2(in -) with 6(out) and/or pin 3(in +) with pin 6(out) I get the guitar signal,
when i put the chip onto the socket ..get only silent.

What is should be (I'm 100% the circuit is correct.. checked and re-cheked several times)?

Sorry for bad english , hoping it's clear enough...
Thanks in advance

For the Dyna Comp, there is NO DIFFERENCE between a CA3080E and any other CA3080.  The E-suffix only refers to a specification, it does NOT refer to a different pinout, or anything else that might prevent the circuit functioning.
