Hello all,
I have a Colorsound ToneBender, it's one of the reissues but around 10 years old now. The pots are really playing up - And I think its time to replace them. Does anyone know where I can buy new pots for these pedals that would be the right size (so they wouldn't be too long on the face of the pedal either)? If anyone knows anywhere in the UK I could get these from that would be a great help.

Values of them are: Volume:
100k Log B
Tone: 100k Lin A
Fuzz: 100k Log B
They are made by 'Omeg' (however, I can't seem to find any contact details for this company)

Thanks alot!

Hi,

Have you tried using a tiny squirt of switch-cleaner first?  (power off, of course!) (and *not* WD40!)

Your pots may not be on the way out (despite their ten years), and a quick 'treat' to a good switch-cleaner may be all that's needed to sort them.

If this doesn't fix them, then look at swapping components.

Assuming the shaft is of the correct diameter, using a pair of washers / nuts (one inside the case, the other outside) should give you a matching pot / knob height wherever you get your pots from.

There are quite a few decent UK suppliers.  At a pinch, Maplin are OK for over-the-counter stuff - but are pricey.
RS Electronics, Rapid Online, and Doctor Tweek are all decent suppliers.

Cheers!

Ian.

Hey!  Did you ever get your Tonebender sorted?

Am asking as 'Jay',our other guitarist pulled a Colorsound out at Friday's rehearsal.

It's an awesome sounding pedal, but the pots on Jay's TB are scratchy as hell (until next weeks' rehearsal at least).

I had a quick peek inside whist changing the battery, and it *looks* to be either very old, or a very faithful re-issue - given that I could see tropical fish caps.

Amazingly, it was found in the boot / trunk of a car at the scrapyard, and has been sat in an attic for the best part of a decade.

Cheers!

Ian.

you can order directly from omeg directly if you can't find what you need from their distributors. I think this is what you need: http://www.omeg.com/lt2bubr2.htm
Citec pots look the same as Omegs, maybe you'll be luckier finding those..

Or maybe a bit of contact cleaner will make those pots work flawlessly again?

The one with the tropical fish caps most likely is an old one. Is it the germanium or the silicon version?

Hello all,
I have not yet managed to find the correct pots for this pedal; I'm really in need of someone to point me in the right direction for getting these as I can't seem to find the right ones. Attached are 2 photos of the pots, and how they are soldered into the circuit board. tips that go into the circuit board are right angled.

They measure 24mm at the base (shown in photo 1). The shaft, minus the threading measures 14mm.

Im guessing, colorsound use the same kind of pots for all the reissue pedals, so if anyone knows what they use please let me know.

Any help would be really great.
Thanks.
