I am sure the rest of you have a handful of circuits that you just plug into your breadboard and play with for fun or various other reasons. One of mine is Tim Escobedo's Octup. Well, as usual, I noticed that when you rotate the "bias" pot, it makes the sound get louder for a moment, and lost the "octave up" part. I hooked up my scope and confirmed my suspicions. The output, biased center, was giving me a perfect octave up (not even noticeable without driving it harder), but when I would  rotate the knob back and forth, the output changes phase, but always settles back to the octave up. The input cap seems to play a role in how fast this settles, a buffer may be beneficial here, maybe?

ZHANG!!! I got a great idea... somewhere in his circuits I remembered seeing a transistor LFO...

And, here is something that "works", although it could use some tweaking, it works. This is just what I slapped together and played with for about an hour or two tonight. A mashup of Tim Escobedo's Octup! and Wobbletron LFO

CORRECTION TO THE SCHEMATIC:
The Jfet being driven by the LFO should be swapped with the 100k resistor to make it a buffer/voltage follower.   :icon_redface:

fixed.

Actually, more like this:

Basically, it's just doing Phase Modulation.
