Putting a ring mod in a 1090s?

Is it possible to put a transformer ring mod in here? If so what are some small transformers that will work in this circuit? Will my tm018's that i bought fit this? Maybe it would fit if I omitted the circuit board and just wire everything point to point? Thoughts?
