I've been looking for a while today to find an attack control mod for my Dyna Comp. I purchased one of these probably 4 years ago but sold it. I recently last year picked another brand new one up at the local music shop for about 65 bucks. I was surprised to find that MXR revamped its circuit board?!?! i'm not sure but i think its the same schematic, but different placement of the components. Metal film resistors, greenie caps, the whole shabang is revamped. Kinda interesting...

Anyway my problem is that i dont have the schematic for the damn thing and since its all different i'm having trouble tracing back to the resistor i'm supposed to mod for an attack control. I believe its a 150k resistor in series with a transistor. i'm supposed to be able to drop a pot in there to come up with a attack control...I'v seen a few threads about it already just kinda lost my place with the new revamped circuit board! ha!

I came, i saw, i taught little kids guitar for extorted prices.

If this is the same as all other Dyna comps (i bet it is)  There should be only two 150k resistors.  Look for the following color code...Brown Green Black Orange Brown.
Now that you have it down to two resistors, one will be in parallel with a .001uf cap and connected to pin 6 of the IC on one end.  This is not the resistor your looking for (Jedi mind trick ;D)  The other150k will be connected to two transistor collectors and a 10uf cap on one end and the other end will be connected to you 9v+.  This is the resistor your after.  Hope this helps

Hey thanks man! Perfect! i did discover the two resistors, and yes after some more searching the schem's are the same, even listed on the board the same. very cool mod! i used a 250k liner pot for the knob. If you crank the pot full bore, you can get some pretty awesome sounding OD from the pedal. i was impressed at the difference in scooping i could get. makes blues lines much clearer without the punchy tones you get with the stock version, or REALLY punchy tones for more country plucking leads. My thinline tele has never been happier!
