I recently picked up a BM on a trade..

According to the BM history site, it would seem it's a very early transition model:

It has the large 6 screw box identical to this:

Here's the guts of mine. According to the site, I believe it has the same circuit as the V7 3rd edition green BM. Transistors have no white dots and are labeled "E KD" ("KD" below the "E"):

When engaged, it works perfectly. When in "bypass", it produces a mild distortion/fuzz and all 3 controls worked the same as when engaged. Actually useable...but not cool.

If you notice, it was "modded" with a red jumper on the switch. When the jumper is disconnected, there's no sound in bypass.

Before I start troubleshooting, can anyone confirm the version and that it's not true bypass....and what I should be hearing in bypass (the typical tone suck and lower volume?).  Is the switch even original?

I'm going to look for a schematic and switch wiring now...

thanx
