If this has been mentiond before sorry.

But if you guys can help that be great.

I would like to build a cable that is a single cable with 2 jacks on each end, for putting my delay pedal in my fx loop but keeping the pedal near me where i need it.

Can any one point me to any diagrams for this or have any tips.

I was thinking of using van damme mic cable and then splitting the sheild etc to two jacks plugs, connected using some regular guitar cable and heatshrink, braiding etc.

Something like this

cheers

that is a really expensive way and could  be noisy
I use dual TRS - TRS cables (Tip Ring Sleeve )
like this one

I have a 20' one. works well
The tip is signal with ring and sleeve as ground. This is nice when dealing with some studio gear.
note.. if you have pedal that uses a stereo jack to save power, these do not work and could have issues.

How about taking two good guitar cables, then using heat shrink bands every foot or so to hold them together?

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Heat shrink bands he says!  I was gonna say duct tape. :icon_biggrin: Either way it will mean that when one of them breaks you can just swap it out rather than the whole thing.

OTOH, if you made a pair of XLR>dual 1/4" adapter cables you could use any mic cable available.  Mic cables chain nicely in case you ever need a really long run.  I've done this.  Really nothing to it.

the only issue I have with good guitar cable is its expensive, and TRS is a standard for Studio quality gear. a 20" dual TRS - TRS is $20. when used with professional equipment it acts like XLR cable, my marshall amps effect loop is TRS and so is all my rack mount effect units. So moving from a pedal board to the studio uses the same cable.

I use rubber splicing tape for these types of things, it doesn't leave a residue, fits over things that shrink wrap won't, goes around corners...

You can see my cables wrapped up to my space echoes, ignore that unplugged plug.

cheers guys, I think iam going to go with two well built cables bundeled together.

The only problem with the cheaper cables is that I find they dont stand up to gigging well, fine for static use like in studios or a rack where they dont have to move. But its worth the extra to make em road worthy i feel.

thanks again
