hi pete,

i'm not sure this is what you are looking for, but you can use an op amp set up as a buffer (unity gain) to stabilize the
voltage supply.  IIRC, you can see this in the supply for the electric mistress.  it's also in the boss blues driver that i copied:
project page and project doc.

look at the difference in power supplies between the two versions in the project doc.

I was wondering, since I don't currently have an MOSFets, if the schematic would work with two JFETs? I have a single J201 and plenty of MPF102s, and a K30A. I do lots of work with the 386 and I hope to tinker some with this circuit, any help appreciated! ToNy

I want to make my own  compressor pedal usin g this circuit... i am planing to buy the electroni parts but i am not able to identify all parts of the cicuit...i would like to ask what is the meaning of VR1 and the values of GE..??... we also identify the rating of the resistors by ohms and watt... can i use 1/4 watt resistors??....  tnx u very much for the replies it will help me alot... tnx..

If you want a compressor, I'd suggest you try an Orange Squeezer or Flatline instead.  Both are fairly simple builds, and much more likely to work.
