so i have never used one of these before, but my buddy wanted me to build him a clone of the DBA robot.  i am at the point where i have to wire it up, but i think i got the wrong switch.  the one i have only has 1 pad in the middle instead of 3/4.  it appears that all it does is take pins 1, 2, and 3 to ground independently.  i was wondering if i could wire the first 3 outer pins to the holteck chip, and the inner "a" pin to ground, then set it to only 3 positions.

i think this would work, but i cannot find any information on google about the switching mechanics inside the actual switch.

The link is malformed and leads nowhere.

In general, you can figure out what connects to what in any switch whatsoever with a pencil and paper and a continuity checker to test what is connected to what at each position of the switch. Switches may be complicated, but a good sketch and a continuity checker and some time spent with it will tell you everything about it.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

i always forget about the tools on my bench, and how helpful they can be.

i think a continuity tester might just do the trick  ;)
